Cancer Connections

Aaron Whitfield is proud to contribute the following four photographs to PhotoSensitive's Cancer Connections. The project is a photography exhibition that launched on May 20th, 2008, in Toronto with approximately 300 images by 250 photographers. Cancer Connections is a documentation of people that have been affected by cancer in their lives to encourage more awareness.

It will travel around the country growing as it goes and end with a grand finale exhibition of 1000 images in Ottawa in 2010. Check it out on-line at www.photosensitive.com/cc.

Aaron would like to thank Preston Manning, Jennifer Smith, Pat Kelly and Nettie Ketler for their participation and Wellspring Calgary for their support on this project.

Preston Manning, founder of two federal conservitive parties and leader of the opposition in parliment, is a prostate cancer survivor. He retired from politics in January 2002 for treatment.
  
Jennifer Smith discovered a lump in her breast in April 2005 after noting a distortion in her left breast. She is healthy today, however she lives with an ever present lurking fear of finding or not finding other anomalies in the future.
  
  In 1987 as a young mother, 35 year-old Pat Kelly was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This began her career as an advocate for Cancer. Since she has published books and manuals and is currently the national director for  the Campaign to Control Cancer (C2CC - http://www.controlcancer.ca/.)
     
  
Ms. Nettie Ketler lost her husband Henry to Colon Cancer on February 9th, 2005. He was diagnosed at the end of November 2004 after leading a very healthy, busy life.
