Aaron Whitfield is based on the edge of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful southwest Alberta, Canada. He has a small photo studio in Pincher Creek and an eagerness to continue travelling and working with his camera. Originally from Calgary, he is an educated, experienced photographer.
Regardless if it is at his studio or on location he is happy to offer his vision and creativity to capture a special moment in time. As well as his own photography business, Whitfield has also been a staff photographer with the Island Lake Resort Group in the winter months since 2006. Here he photographs powder skiing action and captures the catskiing experience for guests of world reknown Island Lake Lodge in Fernie, BC.
Aaron Whitfield began his photography career while studying photojournalism at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. With clients that included The Calgary Hitmen, The Western Hockey League, The Calgary Flames, and their Alumni, word of mouth was his only means of marketing. Graduating with honours in 2000, he went on to achieve a bachelors degree in Communication Studies from the University of Calgary in 2002. In the final year of studies he took on the role of Photo Editor at the gauntlet, U of C's student newspaper.
After University he worked with the Edmonton Sun newspaper then went on to manage the photo department for the Northern News Services based in Yellowknife, NWT. He left this position to follow his passion for travel he went across the Pacific to cycle and photograph the Japanese archipelego and South Korea.
He now calls Pincher Creek home with his wife and baby girl!
