Aaron Whitfield is based on the edge of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada. Originally from Calgary, he is an educated, experienced photographer.
Graduating with honours from the photojournalism program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2000, he went on to achieve a bachelors degree in Communication Studies from the University of Calgary in 2002. In the final year of studies he took on the role of Photo Editor at the gauntlet, U of C's student newspaper.
While in school, he began a business photographing people, events, weddings, sports action and editorial assignments. Clients included: The Calgary Hitmen, (CHL,) The Calgary Flames, (NHL,) the Western Hockey League, The Event Group, Great West Publishing, and Quebecor.
In 2003 he set his sights to the north and took the position of Photo Coordinator for the Northern News Services in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. He managed the photo department that included six newspapers that covered all of Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
In the summer of 2005, he went across the Pacific to cycle and photograph the Japanese archipelego and South Korea.
Whitfield returned to Canada and has continued his business in photography. He is currently a staff photographer with Island Lake Resort Group capturing the catskiing experience for guests of world famous Island Lake Lodge and Powder Cowboy. He also submits some work to the Canadian Press stock archive.
He is available for newspaper and magazine assignments and is booking weddings for 2009.
